W’ui’kinuxv Day Tour  

Be our guest for the day to experience wilderness, wildlife and culture in W’ui’kinuxv Territory. A scenic boat ride, W’ui’kinuxv stories and our knowledgeable Grizzly Bear tour guides will build memories to last a lifetime. You may be lucky enough to observe grizzlies feeding on the abundant food resources, fishing salmon from river channels and foraging rich vegetation in the Kilbella estuary. It is always possible that a bear sighting will not occur during a tour. In a wilderness setting, the bears show up when they want to.

Tour Season

Join us for cultural immersion and rainforest wilderness experiences from June 1 to October 15 of every year. Guests will enjoy a phenomenal wilderness experience regardless of the season. On our day tours, guests will explore the richness of a marine estuary and delve deep into the wonders of the vibrant Waanukv and Kilbella rivers.

For a forest to earn its classification as a temperate rainforest, it must receive at least 1400 mm of rainfall in one year. Rivers Inlet lies within the wettest zone in BC and receives an average of 2200 mm of precipitation annually.

Ensuring Guest Safety and Satisfaction

The highest standard is offered in H’aiagal’ath Grizzly Bear Tours wilderness and cultural experiences and ensuring the safety of our guests is a priority. H’aiagal’ath Grizzly Bear Tours follows the foundational rules set forth by the Province of BC regarding COVID-19, Phase 3: staying home when sick, regular hand hygiene including hand sanitizers, wearing masks when physical distancing is not possible, and frequent cleaning of surfaces.

The H’aiagal’ath Grizzly Bear Tours team has carefully identified locations for viewing Grizzly Bears and with routine human presence and adherence to safety protocols, H’aiagal’ath Grizzly Bear Tours anticipates a memorable viewing experience for all guests. It is always possible that a bear sighting will not occur during a tour. Guests should keep in mind that in a wilderness setting, the bears show up when they want to.

Tour Guides

Guides at H’aiagal’ath Grizzly Bear Tours proudly share their rich knowledge of W’ui’kinuxv Territory, W’ui’kinuxv history and culture, and the ecology of the tour sites including wildlife and plant species for our guests to fully experience the wilderness areas and all that they offer. Advanced training and certification are mandatory for all guides at H’aiagal’ath Grizzly Bear Tours including:

• First Aid Training and CPR Certification Level 1

• Bear Awareness Training

• Food Safety Training and Certification

• Hospitality Industry Training

• Ethnobotany training

• Cultural Competency Training

Vessel captains are required to undergo safety training and obtain Small Vessel Operators Proficiency certification.
